Q. I use keyboard data entry in one particular batch and always have to click on the keyboard control or press TAB several times before I can type in data. Why is this and is there anything I can do about it?
A. The controls are ordered within their scene just as the scenes have an order within the batch view. When you first open a batch QS-Pro puts the focus for keyboard commands on to the current scene's tab. When you press the TAB key the focus moves to the first control on that scene. That's the first control you placed on the scene when you created the bacth and it is at the back of the tab order. If that is the keyboard control it will get the focus straight away, if not you will have to press TAB until it gets the focus, or click on the control with the mouse. Once a batch is open, if you change from one scene to another by clicking a scene tab or pressing Ctrl+TAB, QS-Pro moves the focus automatically to the first control in the scene.
To make things easier you can move your keyboard data entry control to the back of the tab order so it gets the focus automatically. In Design Mode click on the keyboard control, then use the Layout-Send Back or Layout-Send to Back menu commands to move it back.
In Design Mode you can check the order of both scenes and controls in the Scene Tree window - choose View - Scene Tree. The scenes are listed in order from left to right and under each scene, the controls are listed from front to back.
