CADAR QS-ProHandling multiple features |
|
Whether you are using an automated gauging fixture or a few hand held measuring instruments QS-Pro handles multi-featured parts with ease. Up to three or four features you can often get by just by shrinking the size of your charts and cursors and cramming more on to a single screen. Beyond this it makes sense to divide things up - perhaps allocating one feature to a page for hand held measurements, or by separating the live cursor displays from the charts and statistics if you are measuring everything at once with a dedicated gauge. |

The batch plan tree view on the right shows how four diameters have been grouped together into a 'measurement set' so that all will be measured at once in a special purpose fixture. The length of the part will then be measured separately using a height gauge. QS-Pro's powerful expression evaluator can calculate measurements derived from the instrument data for features that can't be measured directly. Expressions are available to calculate everything from diameter (from two opposing probes) thru straight line projections, angles between lines or plances, to polar coordinate conversion, and regression formulae for best-fit-plane and flatness. QS-Pro running on a QStation Panel PC has been configured here to measure a number of diameters, eccentricities and runouts on a gearbox synchromesh sleeve. This gauge measures all features at once and sends QS-Pro a data entry signal when a part is mounted and the probes have been pneumatically advanced into place. QS-Pro can send signals back to the gauge confirming data entry and indicating such things as out of tolerance or out of control conditions etc. This view has been configured to show live measurements on one page and statistical charts and tables for each feature on tabbed pages behind. The statistics are still calculated as you enter data and you can look at them whenever you need them, but until you do they are tucked away out of sight. |
